GRAPHIC DESIGN PHOTOGRAPHY
EXHIBIT 9
For this piece, I started with a simple stock photo, and turned it into a sketch through a series of filters. I then used a variety of adjustment layers to bring back the color of certain sections of the image, and to change the hue of each color. I liked keeping the brightness of the subject as it contrasted against a blueish background. I brought unity to the piece through repeating reds and magentas throughout the background and foreground. I also adjusted the eyes to make them stand out as the focal point(s) of the composition, and convey more feeling into the piece.
Revisions - after reviewing my work and getting peer feedback, I made the following revisions:
-
I used a duplicate multiply layer with a low opacity and placed it in front of the other layers, and used a cutout filter to give it a more painted feel.
-
I then painted white at a low opacity over the original image around the purplish/dark area around the eyes to make them look less baggy and red.
-
I erased the filter around the eyes to keep them bright and detailed .
