EXHIBIT 7

B10-06_Scott_Hayes.jpg

As a brochure or flyer encouraging you to plan a vacation in beautiful Hawaii, this piece takes a simple yet effective approach to catch the eye of the beholder. I used a variety of pale orange hues to contrast against the light turquoise background. Meanwhile, the text repeats the orange color from within the sunset to tie the piece together. I wanted to make the text feel embedded with the palm tree, so I overlapped it in front of the bottom title. I then aligned the paragraph of miscellaneous information to the right side of the composition to make a pleasing flow perpendicular to the corner. The older-looking serif font pairs well with a decorative and classy script font, to create a feel reminiscent of 70's and 80's Americana.

Revisions - after reviewing my work and getting peer feedback, I made the following revisions:

  • I replaced the plain background with a gradient that lightened at the middle top, almost as if sunlight is shining down on the tree.

  • I slightly enlarged the text and moved it down for an easier resting place for the eyes.

  • I moved the palm tree down and to the right, so as to cover less of the writing, and center the sailboat as a continuation of the "l" in Hawaii.

  • I shrunk the font size of the paragraph text and replaced the gibberish text with actual writing about Hawaii.
